no stereomix? You can also download the flv then drag it onto a program called goldwave. Search video downloader on google.

Learn how to capture audio from any music video, friends video, youtube, google video, music.yahoo.com, mtv.com. It's very easy. You don't need to download any additional programs.

Sound Recorder
start - run - sndrec32
Sound Volume
start - run - sndvol32

It will be saved as wav, if you want mp3 see these. These will also let you save over 60 sec

Comments:

sorealitty: I dont have stereo mix option, I have mono out and wave out mix which does the same as the stereo mix. am guessing that this has to do with my sound card.

fra05: O_O wait what do you mean about audacity recording stereo mix. i have an emachines and my computer doesnt have stereomix so how can i do that i need help because i cant record audio for my games =(

fra05: lol yea i agree i only have mic volume, cd volume, line volume, and front mic. is their any way to record sound. i hate the mic you can here me play. i tried blocking the mic and front mic and only trys cd and line volume but no sound recorded. how can i fix the problem

cheengators: I knew your advice was too good to be true. The sound recorder only records a measly 60 second clip. I tried everything to get the recorder to record longer but it's stuck on recording only 60 second clips. What a scam!

PinkOnigiri: Question: Am I right that the sound recording is limited to 60sec? How Can it be extended? Or is there even a way to do sO?

Kriact: I only have SPDIF In, Microphone, TV Tuner, Front Line-In, and Line In. No Stereo Mix. What do I do?

sherilrelish: thanks so much for the advice, subscribing to your vids!

btw, audacity and goldwave are programs that can extend recordig for more than a minute?

FRONZ: "download Chrono Trigger" hahaha

Nice tutorial, but .wav files are friggin huge. The audacity/goldwave suggestions at the end should help the most though.

SamHansl: thanks for the tutorial, i've used audacity plenty before
would the Beta version work just as good?
And Audacity does record for more than a minute!

jimmyrcom: beta is a little of sync if your recording multiple tracks. something totally irrelevant to stream copying.

SamHansl: I've noticed that, and figured to cope, does the other version stay in actual sync?

SamHansl: oh, awesome, cause it's sorta annoying to record music when you gotta re-sync it.
Thanks again man

hellschild0666: Mixer Device: SigmaTel Audio, it has the recording but it doesn't have the Stereo Mix. Just Line-in and Mic. Any Advice?

jimmyrcom: make sure it's checked (as in the checkbox) in properties, I guess some sound cards dont support it or something, but I've never had a computer that didn't

poliguido: Great video, can you record more than one minute ? thank you

jimmyrcom: try downloading the freeware audacity

UltimateGamer181: Hey after you record it...Can you put it on Windows Movie Maker????

UltimateGamer181: Yay thx soo much!!!!Its helps alot!!!!!!!!!!!!

UltimateGamer181: And also after i record it when i play it its all
scratchy..and blurry.....Its weird,Wats wrong with it?

jimmyrcom: try lowering the main recording volume

vishalpipraiya: Thank you. I had been trying to obtain the soundtrack for the new pulsar 200 advertisement and couldn't find any mention of it on the internet. Using your trick, I now have the track on my cellphone. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

sedmair376: The other problem with sound recorder is that it only last 60 seconds. if you look at the right hand side of the sound recorder program you will see that. Another program will have to be used to record longer than 60 seconds. the cool thing is most of those programs are free.

OliveTheCatShow: record 1 min blank and save as 1min.wav
File>New
Edit>insert File..>insert the 1min.wav file
Save as 2min.wav
Repeat inserting 2min.wav until it's the desired length 6 or 7 mins should do it.

fahren299: instead of line, mic, stereo, i have line, mic, cd. wtf?

westogmoney: or just use mediacoder for the converter. works fine

poliguido: hello again. i downloaded de audacity but the file is saved with the extension .aup , do you know how to change to mp3 ? is any special program ?
Thanks !!

jimmyrcom: file export as wav, you need lame audio encoder to save as mp3. search google for "install lame encoder audacity"

Dangturtle: Goldwave will work exactly like the windows default recorder. Follow the steps he showed you to enable the direct recording, and instead of using sndrec run goldwaves recorder. Voila.

jussumone: Thanks - I tried it and it worked ! Always nice to learn a new trick and one that is relatively simple.

rabwno1: i tried this and i could convert the file from WAV to an MP3 or a WMA file by right clicking on the file then selecting convert audio format. i've got xp pro so maybe the windows audio converter program isn't included in the home version of xp. you might be able to get the converter from the microsoft website.

nienna712: thanks soo much

this was really helpful

skparagon: My computer wont record it. When i press record the little line doesent go up. And i can't even hear the recorded sound. If there is any because i can't hear it. I press increase voloume but still the line stays straight. I tried everything yes its on stereo mix.

spacewind: Ok, now my mic is playing through my speakers headset its so annoying, please someone help me

jimmyrcom: select mute in audio options for mic in audio input (not output)

jjjcmajmm: hello there, i tried to do it but i have windows vista and mine is nothing like urs it doesnt even have the run thing, any suggestions?

jjjcmajmm: huh? I just bought this computer like a week ago, brand new, it came with windows vista?!!!

jimmyrcom: vista is the new windows me. It uses more memory than xp, it's slower than xp, and its incompatible with everything. So it's an XP virus

Roostamurder: I tryed it it works but only for a short period of time(about 60sec). Afterwords I end up having to press record again making the full recording sound choppy. So the question I post to you would be is there a way to extend the time lenth for recording? If not it's still handy for short sampling so thanks anyway.

Roostamurder: Thanks guess I missed that at the end. he he.

archadia17: Any way to record longer than 60 seconds?

archadia17: Ok I have goldwave, how exactly do I record longer than 60 seconds?

jimmyrcom: file - new, set how long you want it and click record

Soxas: hey how do i get goldware or something that makes it longer then 60 seconds please respond

jimmyrcom: file - new, set how long you want it and click record

Soxas: where can i set how long it records because i press file then new and theres nothing about the recording time

jimmyrcom: except where it says initial file length

Soxas: do i have to goino properties to change the length

archadia17: Go to my channel I made tutorial on it watch it then u understand.

Soxas: I might download audacity and if i download that do i still have to go through this process

archadia17: Eh I wouldn't really recommend using audacity because it saves as a audacity project instead of mp3, with goldwave you can automatically save as mp3.

mroc987: when ur using audacity u have to go to export as- mp3 not save as- audacity project

Soxas: i must be because mine doesn't say inital file length

nguyen918: hey if you ever get banned from youtube (i hope NEVER!!!) but can you put this somewhere else for future reference :). THANKS FOR THE TUTS MAN!!!

sae1piru: can you make it record more then 60 seconds

jimmyrcom: read the comments on this video

sae1piru: wow a hella fast reply so audacity extends it???

sae1piru: Itt worked im good now woot now i can get some music from videos w00t

kevaughanshiu: Not as good quality as a real song downloaded

jimmyrcom: you're retarded. The song quality is dependent on what bitrate it was encoded in, not what you download it from

kevaughanshiu: okay? i got email of a reply....

don't see a new one...

youtube it messing with my again!

it's like that account i had where everytime i changed the looks of my channel it doesn't work...

jimmyrcom: You got a reply and I'm tired of explaining things, figure it out. If you can't even figure out when someone replied to you on youtube you're hopeless. Blame yourself next time or ask why something didn't go the way you thought it would rather than arrogantly blaming the methods and asking for explanations.

onetreehillfan123: i dont have stereo mix when i do that. :[

vince15mohammad: Excellent tutorial. This helped 100%. Thanks!!!

MasterOfHyrule1: I actually know about this but I don't have stereo mix because I have wave out mix (same thing really).

I've learned this way back then. :D I use Audacity so I don't have to open my volume control.

MasterOfHyrule1: And it's possible to save as mp3 with a sound recorder because I did it. :P

creativekilla: damn jimmy got mad 4 days ago!! he wasn't talking about me by the way.

ceramiccactus: enable "what you hear" its better than stereo mix

swilliams831: its only 60 seconds tho :/, whats if the song is like 2 minuets or something...

atomicstarfish: just watch for it to get to 60 sec and stop.. then quickly press Record button again and it'll give you like 60 more seconds. Keep doing that till its fully recorded.

rainbowbowserpow9999: DUDE AHAHAHAHAH U been doing it THE CRAPPY way dude IF u look in effects and look for increase volume it will extend the length is records everytime it reaches the end point that it says!

jimmyrcom: mm I use audacity =P. Audacity rules

EmCeeKC: Where do u get Sterio Mix?? i dont see it... ):

EmCeeKC: my friend it on their PC, does it depend on wat kind of PC you have?

seanofselby: furkin mint spoken in plain english 2

nicoli492: Thanks so much. This way is so much easier than what I used to do. In order to record songs before, I would insert a dual sided stereo jack into my mic and headphone jack and then do the same thing, but I didn't have the ease of changing the volume as easily and would hear a popping sound if the cord moved around. Excellent tip!

HackDiesel: Everyone else's commentsd are kinda vague, and yeah I have a question. Basically, when you go to your sound recording properties thing, if you don't see Stereo Mix, and are you screwed basically? I have Windows XP if that helps at all. I have everything you could ever think of, except stereo mix. :(

Thanks.

rainbowbowserpow9999: DUDE UM U CAN CONVERT ur .wav FILES with a pogram alREADY also built INTO windows ..ill tell u on ur profile

jimmyrcom: I'm told sndrec can with XP pro. audacity / goldwave aren't huge

rainbowbowserpow9999: well the pogram i use because ive got alot MUSIC that was taken up space has normal .WAV i use a pogram thats in my media center PC already built IN its called (windows audio converter) i think its in all PCS of windows i am not sure.

labritz: can't figure this out in vista.....

busybjorn: Control panel => sound
Tab record
disable mic, select stereo mix (if available) and click OK

majinpvegeta: lol damn, I got too much shit on my soundcard. But I rather use my built in sound recorder. 60 second limit on that one :P

the1bluedove: i do not have realtek / i have sigma / & no stereo mix

yellowshirtguy: the windows recorder only allows 60 seconds of recording, so I tried using audacity to record, but after i recorded it the sound was, like too loud I dont know how to explain it. The sound quality on the windows recorder was perfect, it just didnt record long enough. What can i use to record for 4 minutes that wont hurt sound quality?

jimmyrcom: audacity works fine for me, you can try goldwave too.

yellowshirtguy: ah, i commented to soon, figured it out right after that comment. The record volume was cranked to high up.

djnick1200: if any 1 wanst to chage there wmas to mp3 type switch into google its free and the best

jimmyrcom: actually you can just drag and drop your videos into gold wave and it'll parse the audio.

olabaz: jimmy i tried this and it doesn't work :(

Buttfocker79: It only records 60 seconds.. how do i change that???

Kingaxel1: i'm using audacity, but it doesn't record very well, any ideas on what i should adjust?

Kingaxel1: yay it worked, i just had to adjust some things, I used audacity and the quality is pretty much the same as the original song, Thanks!

tankyroo: is mono mix the same? cuz i dont have stereo mix

sehs333: There is a much better way to rip audio of youtube, try the free online service called vixy, google it and you will not regret it :)
It even help you capture the videos and encode them to many formats and resolutions like Xvid, PSP and iPod video.

1tian: where is

STAR AND RUN??
AT 3:09

Kingaxel1: are you using mac, if you are using windows then its START and then click on RUN. start should be at the bottom left.

catsmew: I don't have stereo mix and I have windows XP on a HP computer! Please help! This video--and the video maker--is awesome, but I am a computer-idiot, and I can't find stereo mixer. I got as far as Volume control, options property, record.

Kingaxel1: audacity works great when you know how to use it. the quality is awesome, you can even save it as an mp3.

lazyg1rl: it works! tx for sharing the tip. But to extend to more than 60 seconds, I need to record blank for 180 seconds for example. Then open the file again and do "edit" - "mix with file", then re-record. Maybe there is a better way?

dslsd64: um...why don't you just use audacity to record it too and not do all that complicated sndrec32 stuff?

jimmyrcom: I do. because a lot of people don't have audacity.

MASTERBLADEXx: they r only 60 seconds to record there r more than 60 seconds?

Treeji: I'd hate to ask this after it being posted a lot, but stereo mix isn't showing for me...

jimmyrcom: Sometimes it's unchecked (in the checkboxes) before, or its not supported by the sound card. You can also download the flv then drag it onto a program called goldwave. Search video downloader on google.

joangg154: If a card doesn't support any way to capture sound appart from the output sockets (taht's my case) you can always use a cable to get sound from an output socket at the back of your PC and connect it to an input socket (line-in, mic...)It's a bit amateurish but it works.

llod206: A tip jimmy...some sound devices do not have the stereo mix option. however, the option called "what you hear" will work as well.

archispectives: Great tip - thanks for posting this video!! Never knew about the stereo mix function.

The free Audacity works perfectly for capturing, editing, etc. of longer clips. For some reason, I had hiss with Windows Sound Recorder, but perfect sound with Audacity.

dilmo22: ok, after the 60 sec are over, you can re-click in record and it will continue recording for more 60 sec (and so on), but you'll notice a small jump (the time you took to press it) when you listen to it :(

dilmo22: hey dude! good to 'see' ya!
I enjoy your tips very much, it's always fun to learn new stuff. :)

you could do more videos about firefox extensions.
I'm an addict and have 20+ of them :P but could always use one more haha

also, check this out: launchy,net
I'm not aware if you know of it but it's a cool new program I'm using, and I find it very useful. what do you think?

jimmyrcom: i've seen it before. I recommend autohotkey for a more fully featured program thats free or dragon naturally pro for the ultra expensive end lol

zachevans93: What is the Windows 98 icon on yout sysyem tray

jimmyrcom: a program called winkey. a macro

victorbmxr: i dont have stereo mix do you have any idvice for me? cause... i want to have music on my video recorder

SirBeany: If you had a decent soundcard instead of onboard realtek audio it's a lot easier to record what sound is being played on the PC.

GG621: Does the recording really after to be 60seconds? can I make it longer??

andsanp: that was so cool. i experimented with it while watching your video. however, my volume controls(XP) didn't have stereo mix. i think it had digital instead.

Adrean15: kool but the files are pretty big.

thedinkelous: my sound recorder stops at 60 seconds. how can i extend this?

mitdylan: hey jimmy
I don't know if someone already posted this but you can also go to adjust audio properties,go to the audio tab and switch sound recording to your sound playback device.
nice video.

jimmyrcom: I like setting stereomix in recording properties. The built in record from speakers option doesn't seem to work.

j3zzR: Again a nice tutorial. :D
You can also convert youtube videos to mp3(and other formats) on this site: zamzar*com(the * is a . offcourse)

pablochacin: get away of vixy!!! it is a very erratic servie and will install spyware (maybe viruses?)

cchopss: I used it a lot of times, but I had never viruses. No joke

Zanderthegreat: Great tutorial. The problem for me isin properties for Advanced Volume Control, Stereo Mix isn't an option. How do I get it to be one?

ozanbacak: Do you see a wawe out mix? It worked for me

effectsmaster1: you know you can use audacity to record whats playing on your speakers? if u didnt know tht tell me and i can tell you how (but u probably know already) :)

jimmyrcom: Audacity just switches recording to stereomix if you select it from the drop down. Doing it manually or through audacity does the same thing.

0Homefri0: hey, I was messing around with the sound recorder and clicked "echo". Now whenever I try to record, there's an echo. Even with audacity. How do I get the echo to go away?

stripeman333: you can also get the sound recorder from start, all programs, accessories, entertainment them sound recorder.

hectornigga: hey... i have a question... how do i convert to mp3?? i know you included it in your toutorial but i didnt understand so well... help please... thank you

jimmyrcom: you'll have to use audacity or goldwave. If you use audacity search youtube for "jimmyrcom camstudio". It shows how to install lame later in the vid

sticksquash: thanks a shit load dude... I've been wondering and wondering why it never recorded the sound properly from my speakers! :D KUDOZ :D

youaremybitcchhh: best video ever thank you!!!!!

DLSS: why not just use a online tool like vixy[.]net ?

Bk187O: This chick's just some asian girl that can't really play very well.

LOL your too funny.

rhodescabbin: Dude thats for 60 seconds and yes it greatly can diminish the sound quality, its a waste of time!

danceandshutup: umm..i dont have stereo mix..i have wave out mix

Irock124: Dude listen...you will never know how much you just helped me right now...i watched your video about you leaving youtube, so that means your probably not going to see this comment, but thanks so much!

DemonicReaper: this sux i was looking forward to recording songs off youtube and i dont have the mixer (wave out mix) all i have is sigmaTel audio.

narut072: this only records the sound for only 60 sec

WANOSK54: is there a way to make it last longer than 60 seconds or is there at least another more advanced program that we can use besides sndrec32?

bubblywums: Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. To record a music file, you kind of usually need more than 60 seconds!

MEGAFATBOY: WOW AMAZING THANKS SO MUCH!!!! 5/5!

pokemonlovermand: nice totally amazing i tried to do that but its a bad quality thansk

kaotonix: wow i never knew about this thank you jimmy!

mz1nnocent: i have windows vista though...totally different

bubblywums: I can't get this to work for me. D= Even when I change the recording controls to Stereo Mix, my mic still records the sound, and I can hear myself clicking the mouse. :(

bubblywums: Nevermind! I fixed it. I had to go in to the Sound Recorders Audio Properties and change the recording from mic to speakers.

Thanks for the tutorial man!

jimmyrcom: Everyone keeps posting the same comments over and over again read the description.
