You can also select text in search boxes or text areas (like the youtube comment box) and alt click the selected text. 3. jimmyrcom: the translation is far from perfect, but there's not much I can do about it. That problem is inherent in all translation services trying to make a literal translation with minimal contextual analysis. Google translate is google translate. It's fast as hell and convenient.

jimmyrcom: Google translate outputs in the UTF-8 characters set. In firefox to view - character encoding - and select unicode. If a website has headers with a different character set this may not help.
AshenLao: it still appears as ????'s and if i change it appears as @!##$! or something like it any ideas?
jimmyrcom: It works for me, on youtube at least. Type "about:config" in the address bar and click enter. Search "unicode". My default.x-unicode font is serif. My charsetmenu.browser.unicode is "UTF-8, UTF-16LE, UTF-16BE, UTF-32LE, UTF-32BE, UTF-7". Google search "firefox unicode" for more things you can try.

jimmyrcom: You click the box and it disappears. Does it not do that for you?

I'm surfing with Java-Scripts disabled by default. Your ext. still pop-up, but to close the box, I have to enable the scripts for the site I'm watching, so thats quite a handicap. Else, realy good job!

jimmyrcom: Nope. You can click higher up on the page if it's too long. I'll look into howto make that long list scrollable.

jimmyrcom: hold down alt then click. The operating system shouldn't make a difference. It may not work if other extensions have alt+click already reserved.

jimmyrcom: It would take forever teaching javascript well for forms, prototypes, dom and other advanced topics. Firefox extensions are javascript + XUL + firefox specific javascript that lets you do special stuff. It's not easy.
a51ts2: hm makes sense. ive read some tutorials and even worked with some xul, but it was too confusing just reading text based tutorials.

jimmyrcom: Err, you'd have to go to tools - error consol and be more specific, that error just told you it logged the error in your error console. The fatal error should be in black.

BetonamuYarou: I've tested only the Japanese to English. It seems to do something, but the results are well dodgy! When I translated the intro blurb on my channel page, this is what I got, lol:
"British, but I am. Oh SUTORARIYA to棲んone. Please please me hello! Vietnam, Japan loves me! Degree and went to Korea. Studying Japanese. Vietnamese are learning degree, but not me."
That is NOT what I wrote! Thinking it was my bad Japanese, I tried comments from native Japanese speakers and got similar results.
Thargh: It only tries to translate invidual words, no translator worldwide can actually logically translate something.

jimmyrcom: Or to put it logically it's not a perfect translation. The accuracy will depend on the language. Many sentences will still be readable. It's perfect for students though that have trouble with reading individual words.
jimmyrcom: Google translate isn't perfect. What do you expect though for a 1 second translation?
jimmyrcom: Japanese is one of the hardest languages to translate. It's no surprise it doesn't do contextual analysis on what you wrote. There's a lot of words with the same meaning and some symbols with possible different pronunciation.

saken: Looks great but sadly doesn't work for me(Firefox 2.0.0.13 / Vista x64). No box comes up. I use quite a large number of other extensions so possibly one is interfering but I'm really not sure.

jimmyrcom: Sorry, no luck, still works for me. Statusbar is pretty cool, I hadn't heard of it. ReloadEvery is incompatible with tab mix plus, which I would die if I removed. Reloadevery shouldn't have anything to do with it though since it just adds a context menu.

jimmyrcom: follow the given instructions. In firefox, click the direct link, go to the upper right corner, edit options, and click allow. If you click the direct link again you can install it. Don't try opening it in Internet Explorer -_-.

It would be nice however if we didn't have to specify the language that is being translated. Most times I see foreign scripts I have no idea what language it is. One click turning "any script" to English for example -- would be awesome.
jimmyrcom: Good idea. I personally wouldn't like it to automatically change the language options based on the page, but I could possibly add a detect language feature on right click.

jimmyrcom: There's a lot of people that do screen captures. Maybe in a future video I'll list some, I dunno.
killervacuum: great job jimmy, but google translate is horribly innacurate.
jimmyrcom: it varies depending on the language. Some sentences will make sense, others will not. Words have multiple definitions, and it's even worse with japanese/chinese/korean where symbols can have different pronunciations. It's a 1 sec translation, what do you expect.

AO968: Tip about the add-on not being up for download on your Mozilla userpage: Potential users need to have an account for the Mozilla add-ons site to download the extension from there. Once you log in, the extension can be downloaded. That's how I got it.
The add-on seems to work fine, I'll test it some more later.
dirkovic2112: That's a very useful extension for me, because I am learning Japanese and Spanish at the moment and I also sometimes have to translate English words back in to my native language and going to google translate or any online dictionary is not as convenient as using your extension.

jimmyrcom: Google search "mozilla developers" all the documentation I used to make this program is there. It's XUL and JavaScript. I used ajax to send and retrieve data to google translate.

I have made some subs in Aegisub, and I have a little piece of film (20 min.). When I mix them with VirtualDub and save, the file stops at 15 min., and the computer tells me that its memory is low. The file then takes 96GB! Any idea what's going on?
jimmyrcom: lol search "jimmyrcom2" on youtube and check the videos there. I have a whole bunch of tutorials. You need to select a compressor and audio codec, otherwise it's uncomressed. It's basically saving 30 .bmp files per second of your video. Yeah, massive.

It's what I call a clone of the Camstudio or vice-versa, and I think i'm gonna use Super Screen Recorder, its almost just like Camstudio, but commercial. Don't worry, I "freely" downloaded it. I think you should see a few screen shots of it or a video i'm gonna make.
