Pazma1: There's a quicker way to download a vid from YT using keepvid.
Just right click on the download link on keepvid, choose where to save it to your PC, choose 'all files' in the save as option and just put .mp4 after the name you want to save it as. That's always worked for me, you can save it as .wmv too or .avi but you must use Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player to play the file, Windows Media Player won't work. Hope that helps.
jimmyrcom: Bad idea! You're not converting the media file, you're just renaming it AND you're getting the low quality version! MPC or VLC can read files even without the extension by reading the file header.

jussumone: I always use the UnPlug firefox add on to download the youtube videos. I just click on it and then it gives me the options to save it to where ever I want. Seems easier than going to those websites and works fine.

when i type "realplayer worst software" into google i dont get much, only a pc world review of the real player version of 1999. i dont like real player as much as others, but it does download 99% of videos on the web no matter wat quatliy.

askapalaphagy: Actually there's an extension with Greasemonkey called "Yousable Youtube" over @ userscripts. Now, I don't know if the creator got HQ and HD mixed up, because I see an HD on one of the selections. Anyway, that's another thing to suggest using.
Hashbrowniepie: Internet Download Manager now has flv download functionality. It works great. It even allows you to download the last ten flv(flash) videos that you have loaded up. You have to pay for IDM though.

samanthacolors: What helped my computer to play all the youtube videos in hd is to go to Account at the top of the page, then on the next page click on video playback quality which is under Account then on next page choose the third choice and click save and settings.

there're no happening difference in the vids sizes if fmt=6 or 18 I tested it but one size of video are equal to each other for differrent qualities
for example I downloaded your vid its size is 20.95MB for normal quality it's as same as others fmt=6,18.you know video has better quality by increasing size

TheOneartist: Actually, the maximum screen resolution for MPEG-4 YouTube videos is 480 x 360.
I just download a few MPEG-4 videos from YouTube myself. Although, if the source video was uploaded at a smaller resolution, such as 320 x 240, it appears under that resolution, instead.
I believe the FPS depends on the source video, for I have seen both 24 FPS and 30 FPS.

jimmyrcom: Vixy converts the low quality version into whatever you want. It's still the low quality, the container / codec does not increase it! That was the point of this video, to say youtube now has high quality.

brysowg: Great video! I have noticed that HQ videos are restricted in LENGTH. 8 min videos play for 4 min! For example this video I made plays GREAT in STANDARD mode for 7:56. But in HQ mode it onlys plays 4 min! "Bills' Creations - Lego King's Castle Siege". Any suggestions? Does this mean that ALL HQ VIDEOS ARE TIME RESTRICTED to 4 min? Any body else having that problem? It really effects ALL my videos.

brysowg: Looks to me like it is a "FEATURE" or a bug. The videos on their homepage that are 9 and 10 min play FINE in full 9 or 10 min mode. Seems like everyday videos is restricted to 4 min or so... THIS will have a TREMENDOUS IMPACT on how you put your compositions together. And al past videos will be cut off. They have converted about 100 of my videos and most are cut off in High Quality mode...
jimmyrcom: probably a bug, try changing your codec to xvid / divx with mp3 audio, it's the most common / supported.

brysowg: As far as I can tell YOUTUBE is RESTRICTING the length of ALL videos submitted in HIGH QUALITY to between 4 - 5 min irregardless of codex used. I have over a hundred videos submitted and all of them over 5 min long are cut off. I don't think this is yet widely known but it will dramatically effect viewings. ALL MY VIDEOS play correctly in STANDARD mode. All are cut-off in varied lengths after 4 min...
snowbonez: this may be true, i was watching a video and it stopped at around 4:00ish?(entire video was 9:53) so, i set it to the lower quality mode, and it could play the entire video.

brysowg: THE HIGH QUALITY TIME OUT PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED. Youtube effective 04/26/08 has fixed the problem with HIGH QUALITY videos cutting off at 5 minutes. NOW a 9 minute video will play the FULL 9 minutes in HIGH QUALITY!

While visual quality is improved, audio is noticeably distorted: this is especially noticeable with content like a crisp, clear narrator speaking, because higher audio peaks have ugly clipping. This issue has been reported for several months but is not yet listed on the Current Site Issues. Hopefully YouTube will ameliorate this in the near future.

DerekForPresident: I can't get the HQ flash anymore! It says cannot write to...[link gobblygook]... (no such file or directory). It did work before though and I'm pretty sure the default HQ is flash because it sucks more than the H.264 mp4 does.

kenshireen: Question..I use keepvid..I am trying to take a flv file and convert to a VOB since I have an old DVD player..When I DL keepvid gives me a choice of Mp4 or Flv.I chose FLV. Keepvid said I should rename the file to flv or mp4 after the DL.(This was not in your template).
I did the cut and paste from properties as you indicated.
What is the best way to convert the flv to a vob? and secondly..should I be downloading as a flv rather than a mp4. (youtube)

Diekrupt: Here is how I got HQ. Captured first with fraps to avi at 1440, then converted soucres to WMV using wmencoder at HD 1280. Compiled and cut with Sony Vegas and rendered as AVI using H.264 at 1280. Final was 3gb (10:36) so I re-encoded with wmencoder at 1280 HD again, uploaded and YT finally enabled HQ. All the other tricks I tried found here on YT videos, none worked.
