Emule and frostwire also have ip filter enabled. Just search emule or frostwire ip filter in google. Don't use disgusting limewire. |

pongman: grrrr, I downloaded peerguardian last night and this morning I booted my computer up and got a blue screen and an error message came up. I think it was a corrupted program. I've deleted the program and hoping that no viruses were attached. Went to the parent site of peerless and it says there are some websites that are attaching viruses on it. Be careful everyone.
RadicalMotE: you probably downloaded a fake version.. which was made with the intension to damage your pc... make sure you download from the official site, and be aware to scan it before using! Peerguardian2 shouldnt have any virusses bound to it if you just pick the right version, so plz dont try to scare people from getting it.
pongman: Yeah, I wasn't intending to scare anyone but after I downloaded it a popup came up that asked to check for authenticity and then I noticed that it was a fake download.

ukeuwatcher: To be fair, the point of Ubuntu is that it's supposed to be more user friendly. If you want answers on Ubuntu, Google "ubuntu forums" and use the forum search box to find out about what you're interested in, e.g. "moblock". Give it a try and report back.

leodime: If you don't know much about internet securtiy, then fooling with programs like these is not wise. If you're unsure, Google the name of the suspicious program you're thinking about blocking and if you get nay results saying that it's a virus, then block the damned thing!

Thanks for the info. I did a google search and came up with about 1,000,000 "Office of the judiciary" pages. Most of them appeared to be related to the court system, so I did a search for "office of the judiciary" + RIAA ...and it brought me right back to THIS PAGE!!! Imagine that. Oh well.

john2pimp: if u use a firewall doesnt that block ips trying to enter ur computer?
popalopa00671436: A firewall blocks inbound and outbound traffic. In order for file sharing/bit torrent to work you must give it permission through your firewall. Once you've done that you're firewall no longer blocks the IP's of RIAA etc through that file sharing program. Peer Guardian is sorta like an inbound only firewall set to block only specific IP addresses like the one's mentioned in the video.
