Fun fact about the GoldenRatio: A perfect pentagram is formed around the mouth area, starting just under one's nose, down/around both sides of the mouth, to just above the chin. ::passing you a mirror for verification::

gandy74: Having a perfectly proportioned face does not automatically make someone beautiful. The golden ratio only relates to the configuration of facial features..it doesn't take into account the shape of individual features and their relation to each other. I have seen numerous examples of both men and women whose facial configuration falls out of the proportions of the mask that are still considred handsome/beautiful and vice/versa.
jimmyrcom: give some examples. Disproportionate, unsymmetrical people are generally uglier.

jimmyrcom: It's more buggy but it's more convenient in that you don't have to bring into focus all the windows like in gimp, also it changes the names so it's more like photoshop.

(answer + previous answer = new answer)
Now put all those bracket numbers together:
1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 etc etc
all those numbers in order is the ratio: 1.618 (the Golden Mean). Thats the simplist way of finding it out and how it was derived in 'number' concept.

1/1 = 1, 2/1 = 2, 3/2 = 1.5, 5/3 = 1.666..., 8/5 = 1.6, 13/8 = 1.625, 21/13 = 1.61538...
What emerges is the Golden Ratio or the Golden Number - 1.618034. The amazing thing is that as we continue to process the numbers in this manner the results hover around 1.6

1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21... there is also a continued fraction way to represent this as well as the standard (1+sqrt(5))/2
The series does no start with 0 it starts with 1 which is the sum of 1 and zero. Putting in the zero messes everything up.

staticnetwork: This is an interesting video, I enjoy your videos a great deal. As to the shape of the face. Phenotypes (genetics) really play into the raised cheeks, eye brows, hairline, etc. Such as the widows peak vs strait hair line, either can occur in both men and women.

Quite frankly, it comes down to big eyes and small noses to me(for women at least, no idea about men.)

cryspatus: A few years ago scientists measured hundreds of faces that are considered attractive - e.g., actresses and models- and found that most of them don't fit the "golden ratio." As a matter of fact, they're just as varied as any sample of average people. So most of this is just bogus, sorry to say.
draychn: Mordern Sex, History Channel, and PBS (I believe.. not entirely certain the 3rd was pbs) all did doccumentries on the golden ratio and mordern day beauty. Every instance of what the masses think as beautiful, fit the golden ratio.
cryspatus: There are many attempts on TV and in mainstream media to figure out "ideal" beauty. For instance, I just read a piece in the NY Times talking about how women with bigger buts have better coordination, which may be a reason that men like women with big buts. Honestly, I don't believe most of what I read when it comes to this type of science, because most of it is to get ratings and sales. The studies are usually small and unscientific. Look up popular psychology and pop sociology for a start.
