kenderpl: hope you realize that you are effectively getting rid of any details in shadows and highlights area by boosting the contrast first with softlight and even more with curves :] Also this tneds to produce oversaturated images. But to each his own I guess.

kenderpl: Ok I exagerated a bit saying you are loosing all the details :] Still the fact is that pushing contrast causes fine detail to disppear. Luminance values are discrete so you WILL lose information when doing such operations. If you don't believe look closely to histogram changes after your manipulation and consider why is it recommended to shoot on low contrast settings in digital cameras when you are going to postprocess your images.

fote: putting the copied layer on soft light first before applying gaussian blur helps with fine tuning how burry you need it. its still a great tute though.
