jimmyrcom: trillian has better support for cams and audio I believe, but pidgin is light weight and multiplatform.

XFLSOT: u can also do this on meebo dot com. u can do it online, no download at all. It works really well.
D0M1N8R1x: I think the move to new name was done mostly because gaim is misleading. gaim was its original name because the project originally only supported aim and since it has grown to support so much more the name change was in my opinion necessary. I dont know if there were really legal stuff that helped push the name change but it was a name change long over due.

Mozgus: I'm trying to switch from Trillian to Pidgin, and I'm really impressed at the additional protocols being supported here. The IRC support seems superior to trillian as well, at least on the chat server I'm using. If you run linux, Pidgin is a no brainer, but if you run Windows, you need tolerate a crash now and then, and tolerate a slightly more bloated install, considering the GTK stuff.

nzds1: Pidgin is not my choice. I kind of find it ugly and not very smooth. On windows I use Miranda which also is quite unpleasant since it is very naked out of the box and plugins are not very intuitive to install but somehow I think it sucks less than trillian and pidgin. On linux (which I use mainly) I use climm 'cause I love using the command line to be able to work with my messenger through ssh. Also it is small and simply works.
redneckboy6983: hi. can someone help, ive been using this with ubuntu with no problems. now i decided to use for windows and im having problems. it will disconnect at random like a couple of times in an hour. dont know whats going on. anyone else have this problem
