I had gone over the downloads part but that clip got deleted apparently. Also, out of a random update, I massively upgraded my old crappy role play site: http://www.eliteskills.com/rp/roleplay.php |
Comments:
JohnG0794: I wonder if IE is going to copy this idea, but it wont be as fast as firefox.. FIREFOX FTW!tubs2222: 1st feature, u can just go to "History", recently closed tabs in the old firefox
hornet1045: when does it come out i didn't see it written
mynamizdavid: I love Firefox 3's Awesome Bar!!!
pokefan96: Um, Safari is better. But firefox isnt bad either..
jimmyrcom: safari is only good for jailbreaking your ipod through a tiff exploit =P.
ZloolS: Is the google toolbar compatible yet?
SlideshowArt: I love Firefox, but I didn't really see much of a reason to upgrade to the new version.
imthepod: whens the offical version coming out?? pls reply and will u do a vid to let us no?
vietfolife: Presumably june 17. might as well wait if you haven't downloaded the candidate yet
SilverAltana: Awesome browser. Everyone should use it.
OkNowImWatching: also you can press Ctrl+F4 to close a tab.
Thanks for taking the time to add all the cool stuff in.
pongman: Does Firefox have a tab on how to speak Dutch?
XxCisnerosxX: Dude I ahve it now my loading is awsomely fast
MRauron: If you close a tab by mistake, you don't have to search for it again, or look through the browsing history, you can just go to history > recently closed tabs.
jimmyrcom: or ctrl+shift+T to undo close tab. Tab mix plus adds a list of recently closed tabs per tab.
PapaSmurf323: liked the vid, but u kind of covered a lot of this stuff in old videos. I was hoping you would cover specifically things new to FF3
jimmyrcom: I did but it wasn't that much really, besides it being faster. I didn't mention malware protection or site info because it's not all that interesting. I did mention a few additions to the download manager but apparently the clip got deleted.
jack2452: do you have fireNES for the firefox
jimmyrcom: let an internet browser be an internet browser. No use cluttering it with extensions which you could just download as regular software.
jack2452: what... fireNES gives you NES games to play. what is that have to do with internet browser.
jimmyrcom: you can make firefox an ftp client, an emulator, an mp3 player etc. It's best just to install decent software instead of tons of random extensions. Keep firefox a webbrowser.
damasta00138: Is it still compatible with all the addons from previous versions? (User Agent, MyWOT, AdBlock, FlashBlock, NoScript, Firebug, and Add 'N Edit Cookies and FasterFox )
I want to make sure I am still protected just as well and I don't to find out te hard way...
jack2452: you know any decent software for nes
jimmyrcom: fce ultra, virtuanes, nesticle. zsnes rules for super nintendo. the roms (games) are all around the net.
dave597: dmasta00138, u can search for and install 'firefox 3 portable' in a folder and test the addons on there. most are working now, probably not firebug, and fasterfox u shouldn't need.
jimmyrcom: Probably not yet. Also, doubt fasterfox will be of much help this version.
robtran: Thanks once again, Jimmy! I use Firfox and I'm definitely going to download FF3!
krong666: And that's about why firefox is the best...
beatulec: Make a pledge to download FF3 on its release date, and get Firefox downloads to Guinness record. (:
Great video Jimmy(:
jimmyrcom: Who has ever researched which software has the record for most downloads? If you download it now it will notify you of the update anyway later on. What's more meaningful is increase in FF users compared to IE. The guiness thing is just a publicity stunt to accomplish the more meaningful goal of overtaking IE majority.
beatulec: That's true. But I guess that's just my way of saying thank you, and showing some support. There's no harm in joining the party, you just need a few minutes to spare... If you're going to download it, you might as well do it on that official day right? (:
mxcnprd10: My fab thing that I loved when I switched to Firefox, clicking on links with middle mouse button and opening them on new tabs
Internet Explorer sucks, I been using Firefox for like a year now, dunno why I never gave it a chance earlier,
taufiq1991: the Ctrl+click button doesnt work in ff 3 hence it sucks
acehydro06: Good video Jimmy! I just went and downloaded 3.0 and I am using it now, I always was a big fan of firefox and this version looks great! I cant wait until the final release comes out.
KHDUDE808: cool, hey,, can you make a video on how to get ISO files for the pcsx2?
fitzcannon: firefox 3 kicks major ass, forget all about the other web browsers, use this one for now on, we need to spread the word to people
ddrfreakmax400: WOW thats freakin awesome =) i cant wait for the offical release for firefox 3
w00tn3ss: I've been using FF3 for a while now. It IS awesome.
WorldOfH4x: Firefox 3, is terrible in my opinion! Some websites it will NOT load the images, i wont ever download it till there is a stable release.
XenophileXenocide: i prefer firefox, however my firefox uses quicktime for all flash related items, and for some reason it crashes my firefox every time a flash related item appears on it. i have tried several methods of resolving this issue but none work. i am also unable to remove quicktime b.c firefox says "needs quicktime to use this feature" even though i have up-to-date flash installed. if i can resolve this quicktime issue i would use firefox instead of IE but as of now "oh well" anyways thx for the vid 5/5
crammage: all i want is mouse gestures :)
Gwiz91: how do you delete history on firefox?
unbeatablecomphelp: why do you want to delete it lol. You just go to "Tools" and then click on "Clear Private Data..." then check the ones you want to delete and click "Clear Private Data Now" and your done.
SteveyW0nder: Tools>Clear Private Data. Check the boxes for the things which you want to delete.
thisismirul: used firefox 3 beta in my xp n ubuntu! it is awesome! :)
nhayghe: dude thx 4 lettin me know i ddint even know that firefox 2 was out!
FHSVideoMaker: Wow, I Learned A LOT, I love Firefox even more now, thanks Jimmy.
VikesFaN74: i love these type videos i have learned sooo much from you ...THANK YOU FOR STAYING ON YOU TUBE. YOUR GREAT!
pokefan96: I am going to download this and fave this vid!~
w00tn3ss: Haha, organize was spelled wrong in your bookmarks menu.
lTherickl: Hey jimmy why did it install three shortcuts on my desktop? :P
dmix09: I LOVE FIREFOX!! ive used it 4 lyk 7years hehe! its so lightweight and efficient!! unlike internet explorer-- ie so bulky and slow and full of shyt! lol i cant stand using it!
dave597: yeh, i agree firefox 3 is awesome! most plugins i use have updated for this version now. it loads faster, has much fewer memory leaks, and the autocomplete toolbar is really handy for revisiting pages/bookmarks!
xxxs13: Opera does all that and more.
I used to love FF, now I love Opera.
Opera > Firefox
snowbonez: SOOOO.... Jimmy Ruska likes kittens....
nyyyyyyyyyy2: Firefox looks really coolZ! Thanks for telling me Jimmy
uhJenny: You should talk about the world record Mozilla wants to break for the most downloads in a day. They're releasing the final version on June 17th! Download it that day!
Highimpact12: Why do you use Windows Classic appearance? Thanks for the video as always ;-).
jasongilmou: will i lose my old book marks if i get this new fox
TheDreamReborn: No. I just installed it and it saved my bookmarks. You can export your bookmarks first just in case.
StJimmyPyro: I'm getting this the day the final release is put out.
JaxDragon1: Doesn't firefox 3 also save downloads? Or is that just for me?
crimsonsoccer55: Hey Jimmy i left a video request but i don't think your going to see it.
I was hoping you could do more " clean install to clean efficiency" tutorials about anything. I found these videos the most helpful.
Thank you
dontheman17: Great job Jimmy.
I enjoy your videos they really are great tutorials and have helpped me in so many different ways.
Thanks.
Don...
ethoxyethaan: may i recommend /firefox/addon/3699 classic compact for the more compact firefox.
meluvsk8ing: i love ur vids... when is this firefox coming out?
pimpedout8888888: yeah, i like it i have been using the beta for a while now, and its quite nice
baruttv: Hey jimmy could you help me myfirefox does not work at all i've tried reinstalling it but it still does not work?
Everytime I double click Firefox after installing it nothing comes up.
Am I missing soemthing or what please help
me
what files are essential to running firefox?
jimmyrcom: if your on windows try going to start, then run, the type firefox -profilemanager . From there create a new profile and see if that works.
baruttv: when i go start run do i type in just firefox or firefox-profilemanager? I've tried both and nothing comes up. I've also tried creating a new profile but it still does not work
siralantaylorATlive: Amazing, I just got it all set up and its great, little things that add up to alot!
Thanks Jimmy!!
siralantaylorATlive: anyone else noticed the new Also watching now you tube tab thing above the commentry tab!
Its a bit weird knowing people are watching while your watching while your watching!?
flyingace15: its been there for like a year.... -_-
meluvsk8ing: hey dude how do u find this stuff?, i just downloaded it..., man its supperrrr goodd thx man...
angeloiswaycool: Well, I have a question.
I'm kind of hesitant of install Firefox 3
Because I don't know if it will delete all of my saved bookmarks.
Will it?
jimmyrcom: Probably not but Install it to a different directory to be sure.
meluvsk8ing: hey dude how do u find this stuff?, i just downloaded it..., man its supperrrr goodd thx man...
ursad: Been using firefox for years and love it!
meluvsk8ing: wow u get a lot of comments.. lol
dmyhre16: i dont think the links work...
sumatwhat: please make a video on the final firefox 3 because i cant keep up with these things but i subscribed so whenever i get onto youtube, i can see the videos that came out from you so please make a video of the final one cause it could really help me.
jimmyrcom: june 17. If you download the release candidate it will alert you it's out. Don't expect many more new features though.
hadakushal: samphilomath, it is better than ever. memory wise, AFAIK, it was built ground up again
jimmyrcom: install firefox3 to a new directory and you can use them both without issue.
200twistatwista: Ha My firefox Has A chrome Registration failure
And I don't think this chrome Registration will be fixed do to A registry cleaner has Erased it.
I reinstall it from the firefox site and it don't get fixed or wen I add on add on's.
jimmyrcom: huuuuuwhat? Delete everything in the %appdata%/mozilla folder and program files/mozilla firefox see if that fixes things.
200twistatwista: U mean like physically Erase it and uninstall it?
eladbari: GJ buddy! ive enjoyed this one alot :]
gotta say...im kind of ashamed im still using IE Explorer....but im SO used to it... especially used to alot of windows opened. and not One window with lotsa Tabs. i dont like it :\
jimmyrcom: Tabs are easier to look through than the insane carnage of new IE instances, +insanely memory efficient. Being able to recover everything were you left off is worth learning.
eladbari: yes...i understand the memory issue with opening so many windows. :\ it does seem to "hang" sometimes at 1.something GB out of 2. then i have to close ALL of those explorer windows to get the memory usage back to 300-400.
why wont u make a tutorial for memory maintnance. there are softwares that can retain memory from clutter of softwares. though i dunno if they are safe to use.. :\
morphmotionpictures: Firefox 3 uses like no memory. With 3 or 4 tabs open, it uses like 50 MB of RAM. It's amazing.
megariku: is there any themes for firefox 3?
EmperorEva0001: Avant Browser already has most of those features
the only feature i like in firefox that you can't get in avant is the automatic spell check.
jimmyrcom: I made a skin for avant browser like in 2003. Avant browser is just a modification of internet explorer using microsoft's visual studio. There's no way you can compare it to firefox!
EmperorEva0001: Compared to both IE and firefox, Avant is faster to load and refresh pages, easier to navigate the web, and doesn't have the awful download times in firefox.
It may use the same basics that IE uses but it takes a less memory and it is very different.
I have all three of them on my comp and avant is the one that work best. It's defiantly something to check out because its not the same as it was from 2003, not even from last year.
PspH3lp3R: jimmy thnx for inf0 <33333333333333333
haranhockey: You should try out the add-on firegestures. You can do commands like back and minimize windows just by making actions with your mouse.
sumatwhat: ummm, i have a problem. why are there links already in the search even if i
ctrl + shift+ del to erase the history?
Tophillious: I'll wait until all of my current addons are compatible with FF3. Good vid though. Tab mix plus is awesome :) Two addons that I use that I don't think you mentioned before are Menu Editor, and Context Search. Menu Editor lets you customize any context menu in FF, and Context Search allows you to highlight a word, right click on it, and select any search engine to search it. Extremely useful IMO.
jimmyrcom: Never tried Menu Editor. The context search thing would be really easy to program. I have so many custom quick searches memorized it doesn't seem of value though.
Allebaggen1: The end on the movie is corupted.. or should it be like that? :) nice vid anyway!
jimmyrcom: Don't know what you mean by corrupted.
southsideStrong: beast. i will def. go get ff 3 now, cuz im still using the older one
Allebaggen1: okey probably some youtube bugg, now it works! Before it was ending in the middle of a sentence.
jimmyrcom: june 17, get the release candidate in description
urik: Verry verry nice :)
I'm using Firefox 3 since RC1.
What I noted, is that it still is quite unstable. Randomly closes sometimes and asks to send an error report to Mozilla.
Though I think that I'm still with RC2. I should upgrade to RC3 and check how it works.
jimmyrcom: One of the issues in RC1 was if you install Firefox RC1 over firefox 2 it may cause instability. To fix export your bookmarks and other needed information and create a new profile / delete your old one.
urik: Thanks Jimmy. Didn't know that.
If I just install RC3 over the current one will it fix it? Or should I install it in a new folder?
jimmyrcom: Installing it to a new folder should workout. You should make a new profile and see if it gets the same instability.
Darkespio: Wow that's pretty cool thx for the heads up I definitely gotta check this out
LaufingKillua: i like "foo" but where did you get it and why do you use it as all of your example words? =-D
jimmyrcom: foo, hello world and for i=0 are all related companions.
manineedadate: I'll stick with Opera. It's had all these things for about a year now. Firefox is cool, but Opera is just cooler. If I get the time, I'll make a video response.
jimmyrcom: I've used opera too for a long time too, but still much prefer firefox for the extensions and how easy it is to modify and develop extensions. I've even made several tutorials with it while firefox was chocked full of tabs.
jimmyrcom: Safari is impossibly far from opera or firefox.
Hashbrowniepie: What do you mean by that? Is it way better or not?
Arley2011: hey jimmy can u make a video on how to make Firefox 3 even faster using about:config?
Thanks
deathbros100: internet explore has a back button
jimmyrcom: that was never in debate + irrelevant
deathbros100: when u did the typeing thing when u close dont the page u can jest use back button and F5 is refresh
quintendo: Hey deathbros100, try Firefox.. it has a great spellchecker =P
SuicideJester: Cool video. I'me not sure if many people know this, but you can also middle click on a link to open it in a new tab. This works for the home and back/forward buttons as well. (not sure if this is possible on macs)
bangity: oh shit,, thanks dude. and i have been using firefox since betas
fitzerg: hey jim how about you make a video about yourself so fans like us would know you better.
It can be your principles, goals, likes and dislikes... anything just for the fun of it.
kalaway: How do you get it to remember a password? Normally it brings up the bar and asks if you want to remember a password, but if you say no it doesn't come back again. Is there a way to bring that back so it will store it?
SuicideJester: Go to tools>options> then the security tab, the click the button that says exceptions to the right of where it says "remember passwords for sites". Then find the site you want to remember the password for and delete it from the list of exceptions. Hope that was clear enough.
Arley2011: Final Version of Firefox 3 Coming June 17 next Tuesday!!!
CromwellDG: Most everyone knows Ctrl-T opens a new tab... which should make it easy to remember Ctrl-Shift-T will re-open a tab you previously closed. FF2 already has that functionality - sorry, but who cares about having to remember ANYTHING about the page to have to type in the address bar? "Close-CRAP! Ctrl-Shift-T, all better."
jimmyrcom: That was just an example! Tab mix plus also has a long history of closed tabs when you right click. if you want to get back to a page you were on before the awesomebar is awesome.
aKitten123: yeah but it takes a long time to start up.
jimmyrcom: not for me, it's almost instant.
TheDish101: Will you make a video when Firefox 3 comes out? The real version?
jimmyrcom: What are you talking about? There will be very minor changes compared to release candidate 3 and no major feature additions. No.
ojmardueno: Sorry! I like Safari better. It does look good though. For a windows browser. I've tried Firefox for Macs, but I still prefer Safari. Good video though, very informative.
PvtNewbie: /me downloads Firefox 3 r3 for Mac
/me opens Firefox.app
*Firefox has quit unexpectedly.*
/me tries making new profile (no extensions etc.)
*Firefox has quit unexpectedly.*
/me posts comment
SuicideJester: "/me downloads Firefox 3 r3 FOR MAC"
That's where you went wrong.
vpew: I'm waiting for the final release before I download it, but thanks for the wonderful tutorial! I'm excited for the new firefox, so much better than internet explorer.
daleedmo: ya its good im using the beta version now. cant wait until tuesday when it comes out
zadinimagic: nice video really informative, right now I'm using the old Firefox, but I think I'll have to up grade. I also noticed that your computer is very fast, but then your running Windows 98, doesn't that get annoying?
jimmyrcom: It's XP in best performance mode.
korwinblue: point by point-
1) Check IE's "History"
2) I never tried out IE's bookmarks, so I can't comment on this. (I'll comment on this later)
3) Thousands and thousands of addons. So what? I'm not going to go through all those to find what I want. (Vista has widgets that could do what you mentioned, BTW)
4) Clutter? Didn't you say that Firefox is good because it has all these addons? IE has "customise" too.
5) OMG, have u used IE? IE has the EXACT same hotkeys!
6)Right-click, open in new tab.
korwinblue: I don't think IE has anything you mentioned in the second half, I got bored of hearing all this "Firefox is awsome!" Stuff. If you like Firefox, greate, but it's annoying as heck hearing you talk like that.
jimmyrcom: Yes, enjoy your god-awful vista/IE combination, I'm sure vista widgets provide a complete solution for you, but always remember there are some people that actually know how to use their computers.
Xetaffliction: hey Jimmy what program do you use to make your videos? reply appreciated.
Conman577: This was a VERY informative video, I learned so many things about FF that I didn't already know! Thanks so much for making this video, its a huge help for beginners, and veteran users as well.
ddl1nz1mon: I use to stay closed aobut IE vs Firefox.. but you made me switch to Firefox...thanks....
muffinman540: is the candidate release basically a beta version? should i wait for the official release?
LouisMun: backspace works as 'back' also
jjjjjjjjjjessie: i use firefox, it's so much faster than IE and easier to manage
so thx, that was extremely helpful
testing4echo: Thanks. I had been planning to search for a review
shanewoods39: i click on developer link and it says (untitled)
BLACKxSTARSxROKx: you should make one how firefox is stupid and safari is better
ojmardueno: for mac users safari is better, for windows users firefox is better. I don't think there is safari for windows, i believe safari is mac exclusive. don't know for sure.
fr0z3nic3: Theres been a recent update for Safari on Windows.. I still prefer Firefox..
shanewoods39: nevermind my computer is a homo
Ghakimx: Oh cool! I'll gladly download it. So how do I replace/patch/update FF1 with FF3? Just install it into the same folder?
shanewoods39: thanks installed it... looks cool
ojmardueno: I guess there is a safari for windows! my bad! I just googled safari for windows and it appears there is a beta of safari for windows. I also read some reviews of it, and it appears that Firefox is still better than safari on the windows OS! Maybe it's because Safari is native to the Mac OS, that Safari does better than Firefox.
grooveclubhouse: great vid but can anyone help me out. I have dual monitors extended desktop. I rarely use firefox because when i wanna watch a vid full screen in goes across both screens. SOOOO I have been using IE cuz i can zoom in on the vid till it fills only one screen. however IE IS SO SLOW AND WONT LOAD EVERY VID! any pro know how i can easily have a zoom function on firefox?
tofufighter777: wow firefox is good!!! but then again, internet explorer 7 (i think 7 im not sure) is colorfuler on the top bar with the tabs.
anhdien: its glitchy, lots of times it just stops working, it uses 20 mb less ram which i like :D and alot less with multiple tabs
HAITIAN407: ima get it comes out on the 17 of this month for people who dont know
vikingo89us: dude where have you been? also ive noticed that adblock plus makes some youtube videos not play right. the really popular ones dont play right unless i disable it.
CamiloSanchez1979: but..the alt arrow is not really new, is it?
LBarron714: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
a must get...
SullenSky: Jimmy, what do you think about flock?
HelloImLance: ok well some of that stuff isn't new...
but i guess that wasn't the point of the video...
good job giving tips :)
I am a nerd so i already know all that stuffs :)
KojachBaumherr: haha alt+arrow i loled
my mouse has back and fowards buttons next to my thumb, when i try to use a mouse without those buttons i feel like ive never used the internet before
scheetje3: I prefer Internet Explorer I used firefox but not all sites support this browser and I think it is soooo much slower
zipperdedoodah: scheetje3, you can instal the addon/extension to Firefox called IE View Lite to click on web pages and links loaded into Firefox to view them in Internet Explorer and likewise you can add the extension to Firefox called FirefoxView which will allow you to click on web pages and links loaded into Internet Explorer to view them in Firefox. Its very easy really and so convenient, try it!
youzula: Mozilla is really awesome stuff butt biggg probrem is,, if i want a windows explorer i must wait like 1-2 second afder then click.. however if i want a mozilla i must wait 5-6 may be more seconds after than click.its because why im using Win. Explo..
aussie4me: most of this I can do with my keyboard. Have a new keyboard that lot of this, Also side board (like litescribe) just rub over the bar and can zoom and enlarge. Lot what you said is program in my programable keys. Canalso use the mouse to do most what I do with the keyboard except type.
aussie4me: checkout the new toys also that microsoft came out with... Remember the coffee table? We heard they working on one for notebooks now.
Fanstic to see how much new tech is coming out right now. like programing from PC to my watch.
aussie4me: thought also you might like to check this one video on YOUTUBE he got it so you can click his viewer on the video and click a card( magic tricks) stop by and show you the video
wwedotcom04: IE has alot of this..
And why do you keep putting Foo in your videos
wth
xXxDANMANxXx: for some reason im not a big fan of firefox...probably becuz ive never really used it. im thinking about not using internet explorer anymore
0Linerider0forever0: Great vid, tyvm im gonna look into firefox. Also guys did u notice how when he did the thing with digg, he didnt close the kitten videos one xD
R u gonna watch it later Jimmy?
5*s
CompHelperKid: Excellent video although I have already got Firefox 3 (RC2 though).
steveh1010: why didnt you get into about:config adjustments?
codycod10: if you look at 12:43 you will notice organize bookmarks is wrong.
sundeepyup: thanks alot, i love fire fox XD
TsuKing: A lot of these "changes" in the first part were already working that way in firefox 2.
jewcyjosh46: i love how you say "click" when you mean press lol
i heart jimmyr
MrT3CH: didanyone see the typo? at 12:40 "organise bookmarks" lol good thing it was fixed in RC2!
SuperPHILIPK: Wow!!!
You know very well how to explain something!!!
Fantasmh: Good video.
Fire fox is the best.
quintendo: Firefox is awesome, but Opera is still faster =) Too bad Opera doesn't have such great addons =/
Bocom: Opera is okay, but I am too used to Firefox. ;D
mercanaries3: internet explorer 7 is the same thing...
1337Yondaime: No FireFox is BUUUUT I like FireFox better :P
Bocom: How is Firefox a ripoff? Netscape came first, and Firefox is a descendant of Netscape. O.o
retepvosnul: It is not safe. Securing IE7 is equal to reducing functionality, that is just silly. Maybe you experience it as fast, but FF or Safari is fastER.
syed1994: Netscape has tabs WAYY before Internet Explorer. IE is not compatible. If I make a website for Firefox, other browsers display the same thing EXCEPT for IE.
nbates66: sorry, but you've mentioned a ton of features IE7 already had long before Firefox 3 came out.
Bocom: Uh... No?
Fx3 is probably the best browser for me, and IE7 is a lot of crap to develop for!
Speufy: Does anyone know what theme he's using on his Firefox?
syed1994: Default theme. It depends on the OS you are on. The themes are different for XP, Vista, Mac & Ubuntu (Linux).
TimoKick: Most of those Tab Mix features you summed up are allready in firefox.
Go to preferences... then Tabs. There you can set that a new page or external click will open in either a window or a tab.
In sfari 3 there are even more options standard. But best of all, they are no on by default.
lbjfan408: very interesting!!!!! could firefox 3 possibly have 14,000 improvements???
BetonamuYarou: Fkn amazing stuff. Actually that alt arrow jazz already exists in IE, and in windows explorer. In fact the Backspace key will go back a page too.
BetonamuYarou: Is there anything it can't do? Can it clean my house for me? Let me know when they install a plug-in for that.
jumpmansbro: yeah but you'd need a computer with a good processor.
damage2: There is something that can do that,a slave, but that add-on is outdated and it's incompatible with Firefox...
MrQ1989: whats with you and foo, seriously. anyway. great website. i've been visiting it for 5 month EVERYDAY now.
uglymug211: Backspace is also a shortcut for Back.
sabdow: You sir, are a f-cking genius.
Balabazoone: Awesome! I've been using firefox for about 2 years and learnt a lot just by watching this video! Thanks Jimmy
jumpmansbro: you really like "foo", don't you?
ssjaris: to open a new page on a new tab and keep your previous u can also click the mouse wheel on a link. ;)
404ErrorNotfound: Firefox 3.0 sucks! Most Add-ons I normally like to use don't work with this version!
"AutoCopy 0.8 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0.
"Firebug: This add-on is for older versions of Firefox"
Fast Video Download 1.6: "This add-on is for older versions of Firefox".
Damn and I uninstalled my old firefox! >: /
markybhoyuk: * Type about:config into Firefox's address bar and click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
* Right-click anywhere. Choose New>Boolean. Make the name of your new config value extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false.
* Make another new boolean pair called extensions.checkUpdateSecurity and set the value to false.
* Restart Firefox.
404ErrorNotfound: Thanks markybhoyuk. It worked perfectly.
todoke: You are obviously a moron. Firefox 3 is not out yet. Its just a preview version. So OF COURSE most add ons are not working YET
404ErrorNotfound: Your mother is a Schweinehund. : )
todoke: Doesn't change that you are a moron. ROFL at your stupidity
"Firefox 3.0 sucks! Most Add-ons I normally like to use don't work with this version!"
soapinthetub101: why is he a moron.
i am using firefox 3 right now as i am typing this.
damage2: Is the spell checker implemented in this version?
todoke: no but who cares. it takes you 2 minutes to install the add on.
404ErrorNotfound: It works for me and I didn't have to install it.
pidlive: SPREADFIREFOX!
Visit the spreadfirefox site
Olphus: Or "Undo Close Tab"!!
UzumakiworldMEDiA: I HATE FIRE FOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
IT MAKS ME SO MADDDDDD. FIREFOX SUCKS. THE CODING IS SO STRICT- IT LIMITS YOUR CREATIVITY. IE EXPLORER'S BOUNDRiES ARE LITTERALLY ENDLESS, AND YOU'RE MISTAKES CREATE ART. IN FIREFOX, THERE ARE SO MANY BOUNDRIES, AND WHEN YOU MAKE A MISTAKE- FIREFOX REJECTS iT. I HATE FIREFOXXXXXXXXXX.
*foam comes from mouth*
jimmyrcom: In firefox it's super spankin' easy to create extensions. In IE it's a pain in the neck, you have to create disgusting activeX objects in visual studio.
hhhh9939: I agree with this guy...Firefox has memory leaks and won't even load the whole page for me...Firefox is incompatible with my McAfee Firewall...like I'm going to change my firewall just for Firefox?...nah, I stick with IE...
jimmyrcom: Firefox hasn't had a memory leak fix in awhile. The latest is very stable and firefox 3 is infinitely superior to IE. McAfee firewall works fine with firefox but you probably blocked it when it prompted you. Enjoy your continued inefficiency and incompetence but don't bother us who actually know how to use a computer.
codywalkCO: I love firefox. You get me really excited about this but then when I installed it the scrolling is very slow. I hope the make sum changes before the make it official. Like how it looks. I see your up for speed not aperence. Me I have to have everything looking smooth and cool. Maybe that is because I death with computer gfx a lot. Well thanks anyways. you gave me another exention to download. XD
masaaki95: i ahve it for like 2 weeks now
masaaki95: dude you must make a vid thats shows how to get skins on fire fox 3 kus mose are only for an older verson
404ErrorNotfound: Well pages load a lot faster with Fox 3.0.
ladyofsarcasm: Thanks jimmy! i can't wait for the official release!
theotheridentity1: if you closed a tab accidently... you could you CTRL+SHIFT+T
manifestjmu: don't try clicking ctrl+left arrow while watching the video! not the best idea ;P
jimmyrcom: lol wow, I didn't know the youtube player had quick keys.
Cyclonebg: Well, you've gone over a lot of the stuff before and I didn't understand which of the stuff was new in Firefox 3 but it was educational anyway.
jimmyrcom: There's another screencast only on FF3 in the videos description.
nicoli492: I actually prefer to have a blank tab open up. It's convenient to press cntrl+T and open up a new tab and be able to immediately type in an address. Plus you don't have to wait for anything to load. Although I didn't know about the cntrl+L trick to immediately go to the address bar.
Also the AwesomeSearch addon is pretty nice. You can search google from your address bar as well as your bookmarks and previously visited sites.
FF3 FTW!
MadRice27: Great vid! Some wicked stuff I didn't know about there that I'll probably start using now. Can't wait for FF3 final next Tuesday!
L3WIS1992: why cant you just look in history or recently closed tabs
007Nicolai: hey does it keep the info i already stored like my prev. bookmarks?
jimmyrcom: Just install it to a different directory and you can use both ff2, ff3.
007Nicolai: Can i use 2 langueges? like i instal the dutch and japanese version?
andrewwilliams62: Although Firefox 3 will obviously be better most of this can be done in Firefox 2
jimmyrcom: The stuff later in the vid yeah. Besides speed enhancements theres only a handful of features over Firefox2, but since most people don't know how to use firefox to begin with it's still new features to them.
TheUnknownone1: Thats tight!
Do you have a video on how to uninstall Internet Explorer and install firefox?
jimmyrcom: IE is integrated and impossible to uninstall. You can have both installed though.
dodgingmiyu: This is awesome. I'll definitely download FireFox 3 when the official release comes. The TabMix Add-On is really nice, too.
A couple of other good shortcuts:
Backspace -- Back [Just if you want to quickly go backward]
Click both mouse keys -- Open *any link in a new tab.
supadupakupatrupa: Are there any about:config settings to mess around with like in FF2?
CodeBlack06: Holy shit.. right on i am getting that soon
ryan9559: Firefox 3 is great. I have it on Linux and getting it on Windows. It gave me a Kernel Panic once so I'm still iffy using it with OS X
educate9946: I'll wait for the final version of 3.0
PBnFlash: if you close a tab you can reopen it with
ctrl+shift+T
EsotericDesi: What video capturing software are you using for this video..?
drizztman101: one of the ones i like is URL fixer
kobratd: So are you keeping Fire Fox 3 or you sticking with Fire Fox 2... Are all Major plug ins Available Yet?
lbrtdy: hey jimmy, i remember seeing one of your videos that u said allow max of 10:40 for video uploads. How did u manage to get 14 minutes into this?
HOMEROTHOMPSOM: cooooooooool!! I want some addons for search images can any one help me please?¿
ArandomNutter: jimmy you are cool keep making videos
DataX2: i have been useing FF3 since beta 4
and it is awesome
lbrtdy: why does the vids just keep freezing at 4:04 for me? all your others play fine except this one
it won't play, but it'll load after that tho, just really really slow.
daoner12: ha
if u pay attention towards the end it says "organise" bookmarks instead of "organize" bookmarks!!!
lol
wiirulezz: Firefox owns internet explorer big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
thecommentatorman: OMG all those things CAN ALLREADY be find in opera. In my opinion I think that opera is the best cause all those features had allready been in the opera browser and firefox is coming to it NOW?
but its your choice but anyways would say its a good update for those who use IE.
or the old firefox.
jimmyrcom: no no no no no no no no, opera does not have all those features although it has some. Firefox 3 is supposed to use less memory than opera 9.5.
darksaiyan2006: Still FF3 is a bit faster than Opera. Opera is still one of the best though, and it is much better than FF2. FF3 needs upgrades to surpass Opera.
TeChNoGeEk11: i would get it but google toolbar isnt compatible
also jimmy what theme do u use?
darksaiyan2006: The control thing is really cool in Youtube, as it increases the size of the video. Using the hi-def fmt=18 thing it helps a lot if you have a slower computer.
bobbetter: Lol am I the only one here that used BOTH Internet Explorer and Firefox?
I mean sure, Firefox is awesome and I love it but IE still has some functions that the recent FireFox doesnt have such as setting multiple homepages which I love to use because I multitask ALOT.
If this function is already in FireFox, please tell me so I can fully switch over :)
jimmyrcom: it does, just enter your homepage as: facebookurl|myspaceurl|googleurl, add a "|" character between sites (the key above enter when shit clicking).
lbrtdy: yeah, or make a batch file like from your previous bat file tutorial and do it that way :)
Maxamillion777: Bullseye J! I've got all 4: opera, IE7, firefox and safari. Just downloaded FF3 with tab mix + - followed your tips and it works great. Time to dump Safari and Op - wish I could dump IE7. Good job dude!
gabrielm562: thanks for the tutorial. Firefox 3 will be in the world record books for most downloads in a day (?)--or something like that
jimmyrcom: Who cares, as long as it surpasses internet explorer in popularity in a few years. Whom ever checked the record books on whats most downloaded anyway? There's hardly a good way to confirm who downloaded several times and who didn't.
dellaseeg: hey jimmy,
what is "flexible space" in the custom toolbars? i tried stretching it and making it wider and narrower instead of having to use "soace", but it doesn't work? what is it and how do you use it???
dellaseeg: P.S. my google search bar is big as hell. how do i make it smaller in length>?
jimmyrcom: why not use the quick searches instead. I agree it takes up too much space.
farahm2: half of everything u said is also functional with firefox 2.
jimmyrcom: Yep, but this is a video about firefox 3 and how to use it efficiently, not about differences between firefox versions.
piratelv: this was very handy i didn't know about a lot of these quick keys.i was search for tab switch key for a long time now. thanks
g33ky898: Wow!!! the adress bar finally has soooo many possiblities now =)
Mario0113: I'm getting Firefox 3 now, it looks amazing.
mttvmario: I already added you as a friend now accept my friend invitation.
jimmyrcom: I only add friends to my friends list, if you like my vids you can subscribe to receive updates. This is not myspace.
kenboy127: is there a keyboard shortcut to go straight to the home page? awesome video, thanks for the tips.
soccernerd93: hey good job man.... u make me wanna get firefox 3 now :)
HD41117: I really want Ctrl-F to *close* as well as open Find!
Great video, as always, dude.
jimmyrcom: just click escape to close the find
HD41117: Indeed but the feel of Ctrl-F is preferable. In terms of UI psychology, esc is just too far away!
morpheus2k2: I haven't used Firefox for awhile it always had some type of glitch in it but thanks for the vid I'll try it. Thanks again
evilpizzaguy3: nice video, but just to throw this out there, most of the stuff you mentioned are all things you can do with the current firefox. :/
noxvenator: well i was already planning on moving to firefox 3, but there are some extensions that i use almost everyday and they are not available to firefox 3 yet.
jimmyrcom: markybhoyuk wrote this a few comments back
* Type about:config into Firefox's address bar and click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
* Right-click anywhere. Choose New>Boolean. Make the name of your new config value extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false.
* Make another new boolean pair called extensions.checkUpdateSecurity and set the value to false.
* Restart Firefox.
1992Jury1992: And What Does That Do Mate. Btw Great Vid =]
jimmyrcom: Make it so firefox doesn't check last tested version on the extension. Some extensions work fine with firefox 3 but haven't been updated to say that.
1992Jury1992: Wat Does That Do Buddy. Btw Great Vid =]
jimmyrcom: Make it so firefox doesn't check last tested version on the extension. Some extensions work fine with firefox 3 but haven't been updated to say that.
lbrtdy: how do you make it so firefox dosen't check last tested version on extension?
jimmyrcom: markybhoyuk wrote this a few comments back

ykzademon: dude im whit you 100% ..and more ...
marcdk2: I love all your vidoes Jimmy, You are very good to explain, and teaching your knowledge, keep it up, i hope to see some more nice vids from you, ;D
D3YPPP: Firefox 3.0 is pretty awesome, but I've been having problems with RC3, it just won't keep my settings and acts as if it has just been installed each time I open it.
thecommentatorman: you could maybe wait till the final release
Brtwrst: kinda weak
almost every single "feature" shown here -
opera already has.
even though -> nice vid
Shibiz: Jimmy... You can also Shift+CTRL+T to open a closed window!
jimmyrcom: I know I added an annotation to the video
amoxicillin3: Jimmy I think you should do at least one video of YOURSELF on camera. You're a mystery voice.
Greatworks4view: hi you are doing a great job all your videos worth watching with new ideas . can you tell me the best thing to speed up my laptop its bit slow now ..defragment as per your video really didnt work.
FitnessGearTV: Must you back up your FF 2 bookmarks before upgrading? or does FF 3 import your FF 2 bookmarks automatically?
jimmyrcom: Your profile does not get deleted. It might be a good idea to install to a different directory so you can just test it out.
Alxjeffs: safari web browser is really much faster on slower systems but on my pc i like firefox
H34DB4N91NM0NK3Y: just do this,
go to view>status bar, and uncheck it,
go to view>toolbars, and uncheck the bookmarks toolbar.
download the add on called fission, to replace ur status bar u removed,
and ur done!
PresOfWeb: Before you download, hide your "download Helper" in a different folder. New firefox wants to delete it and replace it with an online version that can track your downloads (piracy). After you install new firefox, install old "download helper".
jimmyrcom: Fail. Quit making up random crap.
whatnow122: so what is the diference from the canidate and the final product
carcrash714: your videos are always awesome, you would make a good teacher.
ivefantrance: I hope Firefox won't be too popular since it will become the target of most hacks, spies and viruses!
jimmyrcom: Internet explorer was abandoned by microsoft for several years even if it had tons of exploits. The new IE has had its share of issues. Safari is has tons of security holes if you use the windows version, even microsoft had the balls to say it's unsafe. Opera is safe. Firefox releases security updates usually within the same week of any exploits being found.
Repression: A lot of Tab Mix Plus seems to be inspired by standard Opera features.
skycarl: Well Jimmy,, I had to go get it.. Thanks
thelleht: Pretty much everything you mention in this video, has been in Opera for ages.
boredcollegekid89: Opera's Addons aka widgets are terrible for a web browser. I don't want other windows I want stuff intergrated into the browser. I see extensions as ways to customize the browser, Opera really doesn't have that
thecommentatorman: opera dont have those extensions like opera but YOU CAN customize them with opera but its a little harder.
JesusismyShepherd: They didn't spell "customize" right.
tanjentsdotcom: Old version of FF
History --- recently closed tabs.
THIS has saved my ass many a day.
It is NOT NEW to FF3
jimmyrcom: The stuff in the beginning is new, but this video is about firefox 3 and using it efficiently, not differences between the last firefox versions. Most people don't know most the features available.
tanjentsdotcom: Agreed Jimmy. Not many know.
Keep teaching!!!
We love your videos!
Therulerofthem: Wow. You're just like me. I hate any clutter on my browser. I have everything on one line and tinymenus to make everything small. I refuse to install anything that makes stuff bigger. The new size up down controls are amazing. I always got frustrated at how expanding the text would mess the site up.
IaMJWMAN: Nice Video, we can learn alot :D and a great voice never gets old
weggles: I'd love to have Firefox, but my dad thinks its a virus and won't budge on the subject.
twisternhra1: Tell your dad that Firefox helps prevent you from getting viruses. Its alot safer then IE and for me ALOT more stable.
weggles: I've said it all. It's safer, better, more compatible, easier to use, more efficient, stable, etc etc. he wont budge. It's not really worth arguing about anymore :P I'll have my own computer soon :)
clc786: hey jimmyr! what is your RAM man ?Thanks please do reply to this ! thanks
ZealousApollo: Great video once again, but a lot of the stuff in the video you've explained before. Hopefully you're not running out of new stuff for us. Keep up the good work.
ruggeh: Any idea if there will be an updated version of Whitehart for Firefox 3? I love that skin, I've used it since you showed it in one of your videos. :)
UrbanTwitch: Wow thanks for all those tips. I got a lot of new keys now! :D
EsotericDesi: I tried it... and I think FireFox 3 is the best one so far..!
superheromike: hate to say . this is really boring
happybois: tons of menus, store tabs, remember search... you going on about the javascript, thats progress not this predicatable candy
thebadwolf89: the key word is fun, but if you close a tab and wanna find it again you could just click "history" next to bookmarks, and view..
but im still gonna get firefox 3, even though the info in this vid is not so good,
you can already do a lot of this stuff in firefox 2 :s
faolitaruna: You can use history, but only if you remember when it was.
ellhow: I hate firefox....too many bells and whistles make it all buggy.
nyveld: Avant is still a much better browser; for much more than just compatibility.
This video drove me crazy, if you are so excited to save time, dont click apply then ok to close a box, ok will do. Yes, i close windows by accident, but the problem is i dont know what the window is..
And, are you stoned?
thecommentatorman: avant is not so good as FF and opera they have more features and you have a better view of the things
BiOHAZ92: can i ask why do you use a classic theme?
racerboy1993: of course if you lost your tab you can go history, recently closed tabs.
neoxwow1234: Hey dude Thanks Very Much Awesome Videos
DTStyles: almost everything stolen from opera
OPERA FINAL VERSION 4TW
hgpot: firefox -profilemanager doesnt work
bizzawizz: Another great video Jimmy! Firefox 3 final comes out on my birthday :) I'm sure this helped a lot of people switch to the best browser in the world :D
Xetaffliction: Jymmy does your google tranlate addon work on firefox 3?
waw460: G-E-E-K-O
and Geeko was it's name-o!
LSky: I've been using Firefox for a long time, but still I have learned a lot from your video. Thanks!
SuaDuaBoy: yeah man super cool and useful video!
fcommmisso: i really like the less RAM usage and the fast java support though
funmap: ff 3.0 already supports to reopen all tabs after ff restart without tabmixplus.
jimmyrcom: didn't say it didn't. tabmixplus however restores closed tab history, back / forward history, lock status, scroll position and other random stuff.
funmap: thx for the quick answer but ff does that too, at least at lot of what you have typed here.
VaKeVK: I think i found a bug
I installed the tab mix plus then restarted firefox, in the addon menu it sais Tab mix plus:-this addon will be installed when you restart firefox...
I restart fireofx and again and again, it didnt work..
VaKeVK: ahh sorry i didnt dowloaded the developer build...dumba
UniversityChannel: Just downloaded it. It's awesome.
cor54vette: thx a lot how do u no this stuff u r like some worker guy for software
rashik92: lol, it's really easy, u just have to spend some time and pay attention to the shortcut, lol
but he is pretty gud
NikeySunfire: so this is in beta state right now jimmy? cause i think it's ready to release =P
jimmyrcom: Third release candidate. They want to make damn sure it's perfect before it's release en-mass.
k00ksa: Firefox 3 ftw! IE sucks, it's very slow.
k00ksa: BTW it comes out on Tuesday June 17th
Verb47im: Firefox 3 looks awesome, cant wait for the final version.
AaZmaNd: All the same functionality has IE too. I thought there really is something new but I see you just talking all the things everybody already know.
And by the way. it seems to me you didn't really checked about memory usage.
Try to open this page for example in Firefox and IE and check the memory used.
IE uses about 54MB on my system, Firefox uses about 77MB.
I do not want to say that IE is better. I really hope the best browser still has to appear. But you should check the things before talking.
jimmyrcom: fail^42. IE is infinitely slower and Firefox 3 memory benchmarks showed it doing wayyyy better than disgusting IE and even slightly better than opera 9.5. I don't know what's wrong with yours but your anecdotal observations DO NOT compete with official benchmarks.
todoke: @AaZmanNd. IE is a crappy browser for many reasons. And no. IE has not all the same functions that FF has. Most of the "new" IE 7 features were taken from FF and Opera, which they had implemented years before.
jimmyrcom: Only works on pictures, but whatever floats your boat. Enjoy fapping to pixelation.
hhhh9939: IE is still faster than firefox...try loading a picture, I bet IE is faster...I've tried it...
4NiksY4: this fire fox is really great... i installed it...
so cool
BeyondMovieProd: did u notice when he right clicks on the window, customize was spelled wrong? "customise"
thenavido: hahaha hhhh9939 got told by jimmyrcom
freebob3: nice job Jimmy. I learned a lot.
znroVincent: also organise should be spelled as "organized".
harshwbajpai: you are getting a prize for sure ;)
Cyberg101: OMG this Firefox is amazing. I'm using it right now.
