jimmyrcom: portforwarding depends completely on the router type. Just follow the instructions on the website and it'll walk you through.
jimmyrcom: They can't use IP spoofing or the client will send a reply to an IP that didn't make the request. If too many requests are sent the torrent client blocks the IP anyway. Smurfing is like, money laundering isn't it haha?

takeda64: Please don't confuse others. Switch has nothing to do with a router. Besides, his router is fine, he just need to disable those warnings. They're useless anyway.
takeda64: I'm pretty sure you're not getting smurfed and your router is just too sensitive. Smurf doesn't work anymore, there was a huge effort to fix broken networks, and only few left.
When you get a lot of traffic from different sources it might seem like attack, but it's downloading.
I would recommend just disable those warnings and forget about it.
If you treally would be smurfed, you would know when it happen, because you wouldn't be able to use internet at all.

jimmyrcom: like I said in the video just use "site:portforward,com" and the model number in this case "F5D7230-4". Search azureus and port forward. Go to tools NAT test to test if you are firewalled or not.

jimmyrcom: either way leachers send content too. you can have 1 seed and 400 leachers and still get the file, it just takes awhile.
takeda64: If the number of seeders is relatively high, it doesn't matter how many leechers are there (in fact more of them will increase bandwidth, since they're seinding data too)
nixodus: On many torrent sites the user downloads and seeds in the same time , this way the more people are downloading at the moment the faster you download because usualy depends on the client ( i use bitcomet) the upload speed is higher then the download. So do not decide to not download a file just because the no u see .
P.S. on some torrents it takes some time (10-20 min) for the speed to go up .

There is plenty of independent created content out there available under public license for free.
Personally I side with the legal streaming sites on the issue of dealing with the RIAA and MPAA they are fighting a tough battle to get their rights, and pirates are not making it easier.

jimmyrcom: just bookmark the port forward page and have it remember your pass. Go to start - cmd - type ipconfig, then copy your ip into your routers page. won't take too long.

I just downloaded Azure and my interface looks different than yours for whatever reason so it wasn't possible for me to just click plugins and download that one. You can get the plug-in online, I just wasn't able to the same way you were. Maybe you have a plug-in that changed the interface or a earlier version?

takeda64: safepeer doesn't do any good on torrent, because if RIAA/MPAA/whatever connects to a tracker the traqcker provides them with your IP so it is pretty useless.
takeda64: You also mixed up switch, hub and router.
They're not the same and in fact very different (especially switch/hub vs router)
Hub works on the lowest layer (1 - physical) pretty much connecting all the wires together.
Switch does the same job, but it is a bit smarter it works on Data-Link & Network layer (#2 and #3).
takeda64: All home switches aren't even configurable, they're just boxes where you plug computers. The advanced switches (for example Cisco Catalyst 2900) you can configure, but just basic stuff.
The routers operate mainly on layer 4 (transport) and below, sometimes on 5 (session). They're pretty much like computers (actually computers can be set up to work as routers) their job is as the name suggests to route traffic.
takeda64: The home routers often have feature called NAT (Network Address Translation) which allows to multiple computers share same IP address (orininally, every computer supposed to have own IP, but because there is a shortage of addresses, most people use NAT).

ruediix: The safest thing to do is only get freely licensed content. There are lots of sites with plenty of properly licensed content.
Of course the RIAA and MPAA are still using "exploit leaching" techniques that even black-hats find unethical due to a DoS side effect, even on feeds well known to be legit, so blocking them is still not a bad idea.

1. Don't get a third party version of azuarus.
(Azuarus is an Open source project the version from the main site is clean)
2. Don't visit sites with that stuff. The front page is RSS searches.
3. Don't use Bittorrent to pirate videos. There's lots of nice LEGAL stuff to download with Bittorrent, practically the every CC, GPL/LGPL, BSD and Public Domain licensed database is out there if you look hard enough. Plus there is DRM-secured content you can buy over it.

ruediix: Azaurus uses RSS feeds to receive updates about servers. It will also generate it's own feeds from the server's index page.
You are better to look at the general RSS tutorials on info about how ads are embedded in RSS feeds, and how to avoid unwanted ones.
The ad-embedding just gets awful when the engine allows for embeds in the feed.

tns3534: No that's not the point PeerGuardian. PeerGuardian and SafePeer don't hide your IP address, but merely filter IPs that are trying to track your computer(I.E MPAA, RIAA). You know youtubevid, you are kinda' like me when I first started downloading torrents. I was paranoid that the RIAA and MPAA was everywhere, for me that wasn't the case according to the logs of PeerGuardian. Trust me, get peerguardian or safe peer and you're good to go. No BS proxy software will help, it just slows things down.

Jeeblez: I don't know why some are saying uTorrent is better than azureus, they're equally as fast and although I like uTorrent, azureus was programmed in java and can be ran on any platform which supports the JVM (pretty much any).
With most bittorrent clients the speeds will be the same assuming you have the right settings.
Torrents are great, but I suggest buying a rapidshare premium and using warez forums instead, you'll get full speeds and it's not too expensive
