Comments:

sube21: wow this is awesome, you have had like 3 tuts just today, keep it up man, i personally love your videos!

stryder717: wow im gonna have to check it out

jimmyrcom: You also knew about the aspect ratio and skins?

evilflea: ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO JIMMY

seanlock: Another great vid, keep up the good Jimbo

GiggityZZ: VLC is ok but it doesnt support .rmvb files :P
but u can easily download the codec. as an anime watcher, i prefer Media Player Classic.
wats ur opinion on media player classic?

jimmyrcom: I linked real alternative in the description, which is mpc but with realplayer codecs... media player classic hasn't been in development since like 2005. It doesn't have many command line options.

SixthTech: um its called vlc.. but u kept saying vcl player xP
oh well

jimmyrcom: The title says vlc:... The first words in the video are "vlc is a media player"... when you open vlc.exe it says "VLC media player" as the title. On their website it says VLC media player. Maybe you should email them and tell them they named their program wrong?

joenike55: LOL I downloaded this to watch To kill a mockingbird for my honors class

lindieinred: cool i didnt know you could edit video brightnes, and etc... with vlc!

jimmyrcom: CCCP is just a codec pack. ffdshow tryouts is better. MPC is nice but much less features and command line options. I have both.

jimmyrcom: Ok I just tested it. mplayerc.exe is 10mb memory and vlc is 8mb. Running the dvd vcl took 14mb while MPC took 21mb. You're probably using filters, have bad codecs or are rending in 3d. VLC is faster!

Noobmunnas: Mostly I know of the most stuff you post, but not all the details you present, yay.

master2687: i downloaded a skin file and i got it to open with VLC but after when i close it the skin isnt on ? please help

geor187: Excellent tutorial Jimmy. I was using GOM player but i will try VLC player thank you.

redtail1970: You have by far the best channel on youtube.

skate0721: dude ur bittorrent search is THE BEST! keep it up

eladbari: Dude!
Youre on FIRE with those tutorials!

Thats what we wanna see :]

Kinda offended u erased my request...but its your choice...
p.s- i knew VLC for a long time now. its the best! :]
It plays AC3 DTS ..u know ..all those surround sound music too. [audio DVD].

jimmyrcom: I didn't delete your request. Use the new search to search the request. I said I don't have OSX to show you that =P.

sticksquash: heh my aunt will need this in Russia to veiw her dvds :P

eladbari: ohhh...now i see :]
ahhh..what a shame...thanx though :]

pongman: Hey Jimmy! You can slow down if you want? lol I think everyone is truly most appreciative for everything you've done on all this information. You've open my eyes to more stuff than I can imagine. Thank you very very much! Hey! Btw, where do we donate? I feel like I'm getting something for free here?

theonetheonlybruce: been using vlc for like a year now its so good

Tophillious: VLC is quick and efficient, just the way a media player should be. The only thing I don't like is the icon :P I didn't about the aspect ratio though, that's a good bit of info. btw, nice monitor. I have a widescreen 1440x900.

jimmyrcom: You can use resource hacker or XN resource editor to change the icon.

n00bf0rc3: wow man ur really smart. anyway lov ur videos! and the funny thing is that i use the same things u do

GiggityZZ: mpc and VLc are both very good media players i have both, but i prefer mpc because one time i was watching this movie, and VLC jus kept on lagging for me. i dont know if it was because the video was mpeg4 or something but mpc worked better for me

dylanandbazzy: I really like VLC player, i've been using it for over a year now.

ihiphopanonymous: yup, vlc has a ton of codecs. I've been using is for like 3 years now.

n00bf0rc3: you cant download of youtube anyone

n00bf0rc3: nah the new updates they changed it... try it

jimmyrcom: youtube downloader and firefox will still download it. just not video downloader

raulbot: it also works fine with unplug

SuperDuperUberTuber: Thanks for highlighting this excellent program. I became aware of it a few months ago and now use it all the time on all my PCs.

There's a "Portable App's" version and what first won me was that you can take excellent-quality, low file-size screen grabs for no pence.

Previously only ONE of my PC-bundled DVD players allowed for screen-grabs and those had to be bitmaps at 1MB each.

As you've pointed out there are MILLIONS of amazing features under the hood.

owen0334: Thank you for taking the time to make these tutorials more mac friendly.

vmistry94: ive got a problem...when i open up a video file, i cant see the video, just the audio. must be a configuration i guess. please help :(

jimmyrcom: try downloading ffdshow tryouts. You probably have messed up codecs or are trying to open rm streams

vmistry94: thanks jimmy, but i worked something out, i cant play videos that i made from camstudio

pokemonlovermand: i have use this program for months but its still cool.
and the best program ever. good to see that you maked a tutorial so other people can see it.

ssjmaz: Good job, your doing a good very good job. :D Keep it up.

Gweinman: Hey maybe you can help me. I have never been able to figure out how to set up bookmarks using VLC. That has been the only weakness that I have found.

tankyroo: how do i change the format of something to make it go on windows movie maker?

jimmyrcom: search jimmyrcom convert for my media converter tutorial. just make container windows media

TurdFerguson98: I love VLC, it's proof that Microsoft and Apple are just being douches when they limit their media players to playing like 4 different file formats.

pidman101: If you have Windows Vista, that has built in DVD playback capabilities. At least Ultimate edition does. So you can just use Windows Media Player.

TurdFerguson98: Windows Media Player comes with that standard, it just doesn't have near as many options as VLC and VLC can also play many more file formats.

mikhalt2: VLC been around long time, same for media player classic, VLC can playback HD, files., been usin this LONG time lol

UNSP0KENSILENCE: VCL HA! I love it how you dont correct yourself, its like a newreader.

jimmyrcom: wow very clever for pointing it out. I said it wrong once and said it right and even typed it right all the other times. You obviously deserve an award or something.

UNSP0KENSILENCE: OH! By the way, thanks for the crop thing, thats been DRIVING ME INSANE for the last 3 months now, coz each video I download (unless from NASTY youtube) has a different crop.
Gets frustrating...but yea...one of the most important things there

juanthestabber: Yeah VLC rocks, BS does too - at least before the adware. But ur letting out all the secrets of the internets. Whats next? Super?

jimmyrcom: Already reviewed media coder. Super in the description along with other tools.

lerix7: just one minor problem.. vlc doesn't play realmedia files(.rm)You need mpc for that.

jimmyrcom: already have link in the description, real alternative, not just mpc

jerommeke69: Felt like posting a comment now:) I've been watching some of your videos and it's really awesome! Thanks for "wasting" your time telling us all this stuff :D It was really useful to me, I hope you keep doing this! Thank you!!

thegallery: Great video as usual. I gave up playing DVDs on the computer because I couldn't do it easily. Plus I have some videos that are Europe region and others that are US. I think I had to choose within 3 times of using the DVD drive and I chose European as I mostly can play the US ones in my regular DVD player.

stevemcqueen37: nice 1 jimmy boy top guy ,
jimmy how do i watch stream vids

jnaid: ur videos r wicked that was a gd tutorial legend

ghillieman: Yay you added the vid I requested.

FahedWrestling: what the hell, he's like 50 times smarter than you. So don't even talk and get out of here. Don't even bother replying.

haranhockey: ____ pixels by ____ pixels did u use for the screen recorder

Dallouez: Excellent I use it all the time... Even plays DIVX

xupaxota: Great! I used VLC for some time but I didn't explore it, I didn't know of all these features. Thanks a lot!

usbtv: good job good demo on this product
if i had to i will buy one

zumzer0: Wish list=A player that plays, records, saves, etc. anything you want with no more than two clicks. A guy can dream cant he ? Thanks

juanthestabber: Hey Jimmy,
do you know of any program that will play .ram files (other than real player) ram files have some embedded link in them but its tedious to open them in notepad and try to coax the music out of them.

ReedJaguar: yeahh!!! VLC is one of the best players.... hahaha...the last part of the video was funny hahaha "youtube" jahaha

GiggityZZ: hmm i dont get this, i have vlc media player. but it doesnt play RMVB files. i have real alternative. ive tried reinstalling Real Alternative but that doesnt work. hmm jimmy wat could be wrng?

jimmyrcom: mpc can't open all rm streams. rm format is proprietary which means the specs are not released to developers. real alternative is just a crazy hack that uses the realplayers dlls (they're not really supposed to redistribute them). You gotta use real player =P.

DylanTollenger1994: all of my dvd's skip in VCL media player and there ant no scatches on them

boymargov926: Youtube isnt good for nudity. I like the site _SWEETDATEZ.COM_

-boymargov926

pacoworld: Thanks dude!!! I really apreciate this tutorial!!!

nmcat1: u said it was vcl at begining not vlc

nmcat1: some1 pm me if it can play mov files

bradnobl: Good video for beginners,I've used VLC & didnt realize all the features.

Theflexcat: Just awesome info that I will be exploring further.
THANKS Jimmy

mattstengel: VLC Media player renders paying for any DVD codecs obsolete.

Greatest in open source.

DeryckWhibley2: this sucks this is free in windows (I think)

Aaberg123: "this sucks this is free in windows (I think)"
I have no idea what point you a trying to make.

Alwaysjustarose: thank you so much it help alot

2dumb2care: no it dont play just about all IT DOES PLAY ALL it is the best video/audio/streamthing ever

renzocsuf: dude thanks for the tutorial...anything on how to hack someones e-mail account??? just checking =)

RonMurillo: can the player save dvd content to hardware in order to later transport to my ipod???

jimmyrcom: harddrive not hardware, I made another tutorial on how to do that with vlc

notme1713: ....really ..awesome !!!
your videos are wonderful ..thanks for your hard work!!!!!!!

Motivution: How do you change the icon of the VLC player. It's an ugly cone, and in one of your other videos you showed us how, but I can't find. Is there a way to change the cone icon?

GibsonSound: Thanks for info, nvidia just suggested this player to make my newly installed DVD player operate properly. I am glad to get such a fine description/demo of what I can expect from it, thanks again, have a nice day...Laser~

thinkstrait: you should mention that you can set a movie as your desktop bg

jjbloo: you said vcl player a couple of times

catachip: You're making the screen size thing way more complicated then it needs to be. First of all, it's not cutting off anything. The black bars are there to preserve the full content of the movie, which are filmed in a rectangular shape, not a 4:3 square. You are ruining what the film maker intended by cutting it off. However, if that is your prerogative, just go to "Crop" under the Video menu in VLC and select your screen aspect ratio (4:3) for standard, 16:10 for most widescreen displays.

jz33040: Thanks for the video! I tried it and it's great, BUT I'm havng this strange problem with audio stuttering/skipping. What's odd is that the Nero 8 player plays with no skips even though it's a hog. However quicktime skips. So these progs do things differently. My system is plenty fast enough for this, and I know it's some setting or conflict since it worked a year ago. Is there an option somewhere to adjust audio buffers/timing? Or maybe you have an idea of why I have these problems?

jz33040: Also if you don't mind, could you tell me what format you upload your videos in? Mine aren't very sharp. I thought uploading in .mp4 was ok, but maybe not? I wanted to upload my 1st new video in a while and hoped to make it look better. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Heinousness: =) you said 'vcl' its all good though, you friggin genius.

FuzzySoxx: When I click ok to watch the movie nothing happens can anyone help =/

fanofwrestling123: When I try to play dvds on vlc player it gives me error messages. Can anyone help me ?

fanofwrestling123: Never mind, I got vlc player to play dvds.

byzantines2000: I must be an idiot or something, I cant get any movie player to play dvd's. I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 with an nvidia 8800 GTS card. I have downloaded all of the codecs i could think of for the other players, but i saw VLC has them all in one...but it still isnt working =(.

DavinTerrizzi: get Automatix to install all the codecs :]
It's what I do when I install a fresh ubuntu.
Gets all my stuff ready with one click.

dodopod: It skips a lot on my computer. Except when I increase its priority; then everything else lags.

mashuphw: I have problems playing dvd's on my mac. The "controler" shows up, but the image doesen't. When I press play it will seem it is about to start working, but then it doesen't.
Help Please!

oddha: coll now im can de dvd's on my compiuter ;);)

thanks youtube

titchman12: Thnx man i've been looking for a decent media player for ages. great!

Epsand: LoL!! It's great, I had a DivX5-AVI And my ubuntu wouldn't play it at all, then I found this online and it played it in almost HD quality!!!!

TakeMySoulBitch: wait if i downlaod a torrent and ts done its opening with VLc xD what now!?

jutsin928: i tried to download it, but they want 35 bucks for it :(

Vojaaa92: dont trust the sites who want money for vlc player its apsolotely free just search on google download vlc player and u got it.Peace

jutsin928: scratch that... found how to get it free from one of your other vids, this thing is pretty sweet cant stop watchin old cartoons!

dmfdmf3: I would consider VLC as a last resort for playing DVDs because it seems to do so without any form of acceleration whatsoever, and the DVDs will be pausing constantly on much older computers.

einsteinpup: The problem is that whenever I use any DVD Decoder, or media player, Like VLC, or Magic, or Windows Player Classic, it makes the quality of the video slow, slow like a robots!!!!!PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I WANT TO PLAY MY DVDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wiley28: Can you save a video your watching with the subtitles still attached??

munic1: i ll try ....
how is it....
anyway cool man..

Ronnieht: those long black strips are the keep the aspect ratio so the people don't look deformed among other things.

ThankGodForCountry: I still have to have a DVD drive in my computer to play dvds though right?

SomethinWild: Well, not necessarily... you can download so callad "ripped DVDs". Programs like DVD Shrink etc are used to rip the whole content of a DVD into a single ISO, MDF etc file or two folders called AUDIO TS or VIDEO TS. If you have these on you hard drive, they can be played also, and they are still complete DVDs, with menus, chapters etc. In thi case, no DVD drive is needed.

DonFicoMontana: i have a prob with this i used to watch smallville on it and now the reinstalled my PC and when i watch it its black and white can anyone help me fix it
